action replay is a cheat device... and martin im just saying... if recording your runs are important to you...simply buy a cheap vcr...

im trying to save up for re2 and re3 last thing i want to buy is a second hand vcr thats probably got crayons jammed in it knowing my luck>

kniferun action replay is not just a cheat device.martin you dont need a vcr recorder u can use your pc.do you have an s-video port? if not you can buy adapter with an s video port and the 3 ports(red,yellow and white)

Generally, Action replay's shouldn't be used in Challenges. But come 2007 when all the videos and speedruns need video evidence, it won't matter as we'll see who cheats and who doesn't. Also, we may need action replay for say, RE3 Desert Eagle Handgun only or whatever cheats, to start off with a specific weapon.

ill need to try and fix my video recorder and stock up on blank tapes.i might get a dvd recorder because that would be cool to have a wee collection

yeah a dvd recorder is a good choice.just make sure you use good discs as it might stall when burning.also try and buy a good make as most dvd recorders will just pack in after a while and get a machine that burns all discs as mines only burns dvd+r and dvd+rw.one last thing is if you want to use no discs u can get one with a built in hard drive and you can burn ur run onto that and burn it once youre happy with it.saves alot of discs if u muck up
